Bryce Harper signed his first contract with Under Armour in April 2011, a full year prior to his MLB debut. The apparel brand's investment paid off. Harper's hype as a prospect translated to the big leagues, and for all 14 of his MLB seasons, Under Armour has supplied Harper with colorful custom gear and cleats.

So naturally, when Harper posted a TikTok on Friday of himself taking batting practice in Travis Scott's Air Jordans, fans took notice. Harper then confirmed his own free agency in his TikTok comments:

Following their initial contract in 2011, Harper signed an extension with Under Armour in May 2016. Under Armour never disclosed the length or compensation of the deal, but sources told ESPN's Darren Rovell at the time that it was the largest endorsement deal in history for a baseball player, and the length was believed to be 10 years.

Apparently, that extension ended at some point following the conclusion of the 2025 baseball season, seeing as Harper was still sporting Under Armour's custom rivalry gear in September 2025:

Harper could still re-sign with Under Armour, but if he doesn't, he would be the second star athlete in two months to end their long-standing partnership with the apparel company. Golden State Warriors legend Steph Curry split with Under Armour in November 2025, making national headlines. Curry had been with Under Armour since he left Nike in 2013, and he will move forward independently with his Curry Brand after his departure.

Losing Harper would be another massive blow for Under Armour, which is already struggling financially. While the company has an extensive roster of MLB stars — including Juan Soto, Freddie Freeman, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Bobby Witt Jr. — Harper's partnership had the longest tenure and the highest profile.

Under Armour told OnPattison that they do not comment on athlete contracts or active negotiations. Under Armour's website still lists Harper on their athlete roster

Time will tell if Harper re-signs with Under Armour, or if he will sport another company's gear come Spring Training.
