PHILADELPHIA – As everyone in the Delaware Valley already knows, Red October proper begins on Oct. 4 with Game 1 of the National League Division Series.
But on Oct. 1, Phillies fans can get a taste of Red October lite.
The Phillies announced Friday evening that fans are invited to attend the Phillies Red October On-Deck Intrasquad Game Presented by Citizens, which will take place at 6 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies clinched a first-round bye on Wednesday, meaning they won't participate in either of the National League's Wild Card Series matchups. Therefore, the team won't play a meaningful game between Sept. 28 and Oct. 4. This intrasquad game will bridge that gap.
"We're inviting our fans to bring their 'Made for Red October' passion and energy to the first-ever postseason intrasquad game," Phillies Senior Vice President of Ticket Operations John Weber said via a press release.
"With a limited number of tickets being sold, this unique practice game will allow fans to see Phillies stars up close and personal as the team gets ready for the postseason."
According to the Phillies, entertainment beyond the game will also be provided. Select concessions on the main concourse and Ashburn Alley will be open, as well as the New Era Phillies Team Store.
The Phillies had a first-round bye before the 2024 playoffs, and just like this year, they played an intrasquad game in the middle of the bye. This year, however, the ballpark will be open to fans. Perhaps the energy from a live crowd will make a difference in this year's results.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. All tickets will cost $10, and net proceeds will benefit Phillies Charities, Inc. Parking is free in lots P, S, T and U, with those lots opening at 4 p.m.
