Ahead of Wednesday evening's game between the Miami Marlins and Phillies, Rob Thomson provided a series of updates.
Trea Turner (right hamstring strain)did a live batting practice this afternoon, getting six at-bats and running at what Thomson estimated to be 75%. The Phillies would like to see Turner play in a game before the season concludes, but Thomson said they won't push him to do so if he's not ready before the end of this weekend.
Bryce Harper is out of the lineup for a second consecutive night with an undisclosed illness. Thomson said the two-time NL MVP is "feeling better, but still feeling the effects of this sickness." The manager was unsure if Harper will be at the park at all Wednesday.
J.T. Realmuto also isn't in the lineup Wednesday after exiting Tuesday evening's loss early when he got a ball fouled off of his right index finger. Thomson said Realmuto does have bruising on the finger, saying that "there's still some swelling in there and some pain, but not as bad as yesterday." Realmuto does have improved mobility in the finger, and there's no indication at this time that he will require an IL stint.

Edmundo Sosa (right groin strain) was activated from the 10-day injured list Wednesday. To make room for him on the 26-man roster, Donovan Walton was designated for assignment.
Jesús Luzardo will make his final start of the regular season Wednesday against his former team. Luzardo needs just 2 1/3 innings to surpass his previous career-high in innings of 178 2/3, which he set while pitching for the Marlins in 2023. Thomson was very complimentary of how Luzardo has pitched during his first season with the Phillies:

So will he be one of the top three starters in the NLDS?
As far as Luzardo's role in the postseason, it's hard not to imagine him being the No. 3 starter in the NLDS, behind Cristopher Sánchez and Ranger Suárez. Yes, that would be three consecutive lefties, but Suárez is a completely different look than the other two. Also, when you look at the most likely opponents — the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers — all have elite left-handed hitters and/or switch-hitters in their lineup. So at least for the NLDS, having three straight lefties might actually work more in the favor of the Phillies.
Johan Rojas will head to a “stay-hot” camp at Lehigh Valley that begins Friday, Rob Thomson said.
The team will know more about the quad issue he dealt with last week when he reports, and Thomson will announce the other players going to the camp at another time.
