With two outs in the top of the seventh inning, Trea Turner legged out a grounder to first base. The Miami Marlins sailed the throw past him, and he reached on a throwing error.

However, the shortstop then turned to the dugout and walked straight into the tunnel:

Edmundo Sosa entered the game as a pinch runner. On first glance, there was no obvious moment of injury, but per Phillies Nation's Ty Daubert, the Phillies announced that Turner has a right hamstring strain and will be evaluated further.

Per Daubert, Phillies manager Rob Thomson said after Sunday's game that Trea Turner felt a "grab" in his right hamstring. Turner will see a doctor, and the team will know more about the injury tomorrow.

Turner sat during Saturday's game, but the Phillies said it was just a routine day off for the everyday player. Just one inning prior to the injury, Turner hit his 15th home run of the season Sunday.

The 32-year-old is having his best season as a Phillie, batting .305 with an .814 OPS. Losing Turner for any long stretch of time would be a huge blow to an inconsistent Phillies offense that has heavily leaned on Turner's consistent production.

Considering the timing of Turner's injury, it also carries massive playoff implications for the Phils. Turner currently leads the Phillies in hits (179), doubles (31), triples (7), stolen bases (36) and batting average (.305).

Turner strained his left hamstring in May 2024 on a play where he scored from second on a passed ball. Similar to Sunday's injury, Turner got up and walked off the field under his own power. The three-time All-Star initially told media he expected to be sidelined for six weeks, and he returned six weeks and two days after the injury.

Turner has also strained his right hamstring before. He missed 12 days with the injury in April 2017.
