Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson suffered a Lisfranc sprain during Sunday's victory against the Detroit Lions.

Johnson limped back to the locker room during the first quarter of Sunday's game. The Eagles later ruled him out with a foot injury.

According to Rapoport and Garafolo, Johnson's injury will keep him sidelined for 4-6 weeks, although he will still seek a second opinion and further testing. He'll likely go on injured reserve, but the Eagles believe Johnson will return this season.

If that time frame holds up, Johnson won't return until between Weeks 16 and 18. The Eagles play the Washington Commanders twice within that time period, with a game against the Buffalo Bills sandwiched between those two matchups.

The Eagles improved to 8-2 Sunday night, while every other team in the NFC East has no more than three wins. (The 3-5-1 Dallas Cowboys play the Las Vegas Raiders Monday night, so they could get their fourth win.) Barring catastrophe, the Birds will run away with their division with or without Johnson. However, his injury is still a massive blow to an offensive line that has not performed up to its usual high standards this season.

Johnson, 35, has had a rough year injury-wise. He injured his neck against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, his left shoulder against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, his ankle against the Green Bay Packers in Week 10, and now his foot against the Lions. This is Johnson's 13th NFL season, so wear and tear isn't unexpected.

The Eagles offense has historically been much worse when Johnson is off the field. In his absence, another Johnson – Fred Johnson – will step in at right tackle. The Eagles have heavily utilized Fred Johnson when they've played jumbo O-line packages this season, often putting him onto the field as the sixth offensive lineman. Now he'll see regular playing time.

Losing a five-time All-Pro player for a chunk of the back half of a season is never ideal. Hopefully offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland can work his magic, and the Eagles O-line can remain strong until Lane Johnson's return.
