For the first time ever, the Eagles will be featured on HBO's Hard Knocks. The Eagles will appear on an in-season version of the show, which will follow all four NFC East teams. The show is set to be released in December. It's the second-straight season that an entire division will be featured. Last season, the AFC North was highlighted with the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.
The NFC East doesn't have much experience on Hard Knocks. The Dallas Cowboys have been on the show three times, while the New York Giants once and the Washington Commanders never.
Last season, the Giants were humiliated after being featured on a special offseason version of Hard Knocks. It gave an inside look into general manager Joe Schoen's reluctancy to pay star running back Saquon Barkley in free agency and owner John Mara's hesitancy to let him go.
Barkley ended up with the Eagles, and the rest is history. He set the record for most rushing yards in a year (regular and postseason included), with 2,504, helping the Eagles to a Super Bowl title. #Giants owner John Mara on Saquon Barkley potentially getting interest from the Eagles and Bears:
"I'll have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philadelphia, I'll tell you that. ... He's the most popular player we have BY FAR."pic.twitter.com/T0SJDIyHZH
The show sets up an interesting dynamic for the NFC East for the upcoming season. The Cowboys are looking to improve after a disappointing season where they missed the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Commanders are trying to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the NFC. The Giants are attempting to climb out of the basement of the division, with Schoen and Brian Daboll likely on the hot seat. The show will give good insight into the Eagles' fight to repeat as Super Bowl champions. Considering the franchise has never been on Hard Knocks before, it should be an interesting watch.
