It was a given the Eagles would host the NFL season opener - the defending Super Bowl champ usually does - but who the opponent might be was up in the air.
Until now. And boy is it a juicy one.
The NFL has announced that the 2025 regular season will kick off with a marquee matchup between the Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys.
The game is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, at 8:20 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
This primetime event will be broadcast nationally on NBC, Peacock, Telemundo, Universo, and NFL+.
The Eagles, fresh off their Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, will commence their title defense against their longtime NFC East rivals.
This will be the first time the Eagles and Cowboys have faced each other in a Week 1 game since 2000, when Philadelphia triumphed 41-14 in the memorable "Pickle Juice Game."
In the 2024 season, the Eagles dominated the Cowboys, winning both encounters with a combined score of 75-13. Philadelphia secured a 34-6 victory in Dallas and followed up with a 41-7 win at home.
This season opener continues the NFL tradition of featuring the defending Super Bowl champions in the kickoff game, providing fans with an early highlight in the league's calendar.
The full 2025 NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 14, at 8 p.m. ET, with coverage available on NFL Network, NFL.com, the NFL app, and NFL+.
As anticipation builds for the season opener, fans can look forward to a clash between two of the league's most storied franchises, setting the stage for another exciting NFL season.
