Michael Jordan has the Jumpman. Could Saquon Barkley end up with legal rights to the reverse hurdle?
According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, Barkley has filed for a trademark on the move:
Saquon Barkley has filed a trademark for his reverse hurdle move.
The filing, made on March 13, aims to protect a silhouette of Barkley jumping backward over a defender.

"Barkley filed a trademark application for a silhouette of his now-famous reverse hurdle move from a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 3, 2024. The application signals Barkley’s intent to use the trademark for a line of clothing and mugs, further expanding his growing business portfolio.
"Under US law, trademark applicants must declare whether their mark is already in commercial use or if they have a bona fide intent to use it in commerce. Barkley’s filing falls under the intent-to-use category, meaning he must demonstrate actual sales using the mark before securing final registration."
The defining moment of Barkley's first season with the Eagles — a campaign that ended with him hoisting a Lombardi Trophy — was the reverse hurdle that he pulled off during a 28-23 win over the Jaguars in Week 9:

Barkley ultimately ran for a franchise-record 2,005 yards during the 2024 season, becoming the ninth member of the 2K Club in NFL history. He won the Offensive Player of the Year Award and was a First-Team All-Pro selection following his incredible campaign.
In addition to whatever money Barkley ultimately is able to make from selling reverse hurdle merchandise, the Eagles have further enriched him this offseason by signing him to a two-year/$41 million extension the guarantees him $36 million.
