What happens when you combine one of the most popular sports with one of the most popular young pop stars? Film producers are hoping for a hit song and boosted movie sales. This is precisely why F1 producers asked Tate McRae to record “Just Keep Watching” for their movie’s soundtrack.

Traders on the top prediction market, Kalshi, are also attempting to forecast how well this song will perform on Spotify. The market is already reflecting a prediction of more than 18 million streams.

Who is Tate McRae, and what is Tate McRae’s ‘F1’ song?

Despite being only 21, Tate McRae has been working for over ten years. Initially, McRae rose to prominence in the dance world. She won many competitions, performed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, and posted dance videos on YouTube.

By 2017, she began posting music on YouTube, and by 2019, she had signed with RCA Records. But she reached mainstream success only in 2023 with her hit song greedy, which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The song also peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Global 200 Songs chart.

In early 2025, McRae also released her first No. 1 album, So Close to What. On May 31, 2025, she also achieved her first No. 1 on the Hot 100, with her feature on Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want.”

Fresh off a successful first half of 2025, Tate McRae has now released a new song as part of the movie F1’s soundtrack, “Just Keep Watching.” The song was released on May 30, 2025, four weeks before the movie’s release on June 27, 2025.

What does Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae’s ‘What I Want’ have to do with it?

While Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae’s “What I Want” seems unrelated to her song for F1, it may have a connection. Movie soundtracks frequently release a single well ahead of the film’s release.

In fact, Rihanna just released her single from the film Smurfs about one month before the film’s release as well. Film studios often do this to build hype or anticipation for their movies.

However, they may have been thinking of a later release date, but saw McRae was about to have a No. 1 and is currently trending. As a result, the may have wanted to capitalize on the momentum.

However, we will need to review the streaming numbers to determine if it’s working.

Tate McRae’s Spotify streaming history

McRae released many songs before “Just Keep Watching.” We can take a look at her most recent singles and see how they debuted on Spotify.

2.2 Million

The first four singles from her last album all scored between 2.2 and 4.5 million streams in their first day. “Just Keep Watching” debuted with 3.2 million streams, which is right below the middle but higher than her debut with “bloodonmyhands.”

This means that Tate McRae’s “Just Keep Watching” is not underperforming based on its debut — it has had a strong start.

“It’s ok I’m ok” had 20 million streams in its first week, with a 4.5 million debut, which suggests “Just Keep Watching” could have a lower first week. As of June 4, Kalshi traders are predicting over 18 million streams.

Still, the momentum of Wallen and McRae’s “What I Want” can also help boost the streams for this new song.

Will ‘Just Keep Watching’ surpass 18 million streams?

Now, it’s essential to examine the daily numbers, as they can help you determine whether the song is building or slowing down. The first three days of “Just Keep Watching’s” streaming numbers are 4,119,894 (day one), 2,963,827 (day two), and 2,682,895 (day three).

There was a significant drop of more than one million from day one to day two, but the drop significantly lessened on the following day. If the song can maintain at least two million streams over the remaining four days, it could reach around 18 million.

However, if McRae continues to lose 300,000 or more streams every day, the song won’t reach the 18 million mark.

Let’s consider some other signs.

Is Spotify pushing the song? In this case, yes, because McRae is the cover of Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits playlist and the first song on the list.

Also, take a look at YouTube video streams and social media uses of the song. Watch if the streams and uses continue to grow or not.

All of these factors are indicators that can help inform your prediction.

With strong Spotify playlist placement and McRae's current chart success creating momentum, "Just Keep Watching" has the ingredients for sustained streaming performance. However, the song's declining daily numbers will need to stabilize above two million streams to meet trader expectations of 18 million first-week streams.
