NEW YORK — A night after Kyle Schwarber did his best Babe Ruth impression, it was the entire offense and Ranger Suárez that helped the Phillies to secure a series win with a 9-4 victory over the Yankees.
Suárez, at least for a few days, quieted any concerns about a second-half collapse similar to the one he experienced a year ago. Against a Yankees' lineup that was without Aaron Judge — who had imaging done on a sore right elbow — Suárez scattered seven hits and one run over 5 2/3 innings, while striking out eight. Suárez's ERA on the season now sits at an impressive 2.59 over 93 2/3 innings pitched.
Meanwhile, Bryce Harper stayed locked in with a no-doubt-about-it 425-foot shot in the third inning, his 15th of the season and fifth since the All-Star Break:

J.T. Realmuto — who entered the day hitting .308 in the second half of the season — continued his recent hot stretch. After Realmuto hit a towering three-run home run in Friday's victory, he went 2-for-4 with an RBI single that plated Trea Turner in the top of the first inning to start the scoring.
Speaking of Turner, he entered the day as the National League leader with 123 hits, and added two more hits and a pair of RBIs Saturday. The second RBI came in the form of an opposite-field double that scored Bryson Stott in the top of the sixth inning. Turner has six hits across the first two games of this weekend's series against the Yankees:

Before the day was done, Edmundo Sosa smoked a two-run home run, and, of course, Schwarber got in on the fun. Schwarber drove in a pair of runs with a double into the left-center field power alley in the seventh.
Sosa did depart the game with a back contusion after colliding with Brandon Marsh in the outfield in the bottom of the seventh inning. He will be evaluated further.
With the win, the Phillies improve to 60-44 on the season. They have won four of their last five games. NL Cy Young contender Zack Wheeler will get the ball for the Phillies Sunday as they try to sweep the Yankees.
Meanwhile, the Yankees drop to 56-48. Carlos Rodón — who has a 3.10 ERA and was an All-Star for the third time in his career this season — will toe the rubber for the Yankees, who will be hoping to salvage the final game of the series.
