Lincoln Financial Field has been home to the Eagles since 2003. The franchise has seen plenty of success during that time, including hosting five NFC Championship Games, while bringing home two Super Bowls.

There is some uncertainty about the long-term future of the Linc, though.

On Thursday, the Eagles sent an email to season-ticket holders to survey them about the future of the stadium. There were two surveys in the email, one about potential renovations to the Linc. The other was about plans for a completely new stadium.

Part of the email read:

"As we look to the future, we're committed to delivering a best-in-class gameday experience for Philadelphia Eagles fans. To help guide this vision, we're exploring potential updates to Lincoln Financial Field — including both renovation options and the possibility of a brand new stadium in the region.

"We'd love to hear your thoughts on each of these possibilities. Each survey takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete and your feedback will be used collectively to help shape the future of Eagles gamedays."

Eagles' owner Jeffrey Lurie discussed this topic earlier this year at the Super Bowl.

"I don't have a strong opinion on it. You're torn," Lurie said at Super Bowl Media Day. "I love outdoor football. I love it. I love the cold games, I like the hot games, I like the snow games.

"On the other hand, Philadelphia deserves to host a Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, lots of great events. It's an incredible sports city. Does it deserve that? Yes. So gotta balance all those things."

Per PHLY's Zach Berman, the Eagles' current lease runs for eight more seasons, through 2032. As of now, Lurie hasn't made his mind up, but based on the email, it seems like the Eagles are keeping their options open.

In January, the Sixers announced the construction of a new arena in South Philadelphia, instead of building a downtown arena near Chinatown. The arena is set to be built by 2031. If the Eagles decide to go that route, there will be two new state-of-the-art facilities at some point next decade.

Within the past 10 years, four different NFL teams have built new stadiums. The Minnesota Vikings built U.S. Bank Stadium in 2016, while the Atlanta Falcons opened Mercedes-Benz Stadium the following year. So-Fi Stadium opened in 2020 for the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams, along with Allegiant Stadium for the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Buffalo Bills will move into New Highmark Stadium in 2026.

If the Eagles follow suit, a big question will be whether the stadium has a roof. Based on the trend of other NFL teams, an indoor stadium could be likely. Other than So-Fi, every stadium previously mentioned is a dome. So-Fi also has a roof, but is considered an "open-air" stadium.

Crazy weather games can be fun. Just look at the Eagles' Divisional Round win over the Rams, where Saquon Barkley trudged through the snow for an iconic performance. Or even a decade earlier when LeSean McCoy set the Eagles' single-game rushing record (which Barkley has subsequently broken) in a whiteout versus the Detroit Lions. With an indoor stadium, games like that wouldn't happen. Even the advantage of frigid late-season temperatures gets completely nullified.

A new stadium certainly has its benefits, but there would definitely be people opposed to that path. In the end, Lurie will have a large voice on the future of where the Eagles play. It seems like he's open to anything, but we'll just have to wait and see.
