Heading into 2025, Nick Sirianni is far from being on the hot seat. The same couldn't have been said about him heading into last season. The Eagles were coming off a late-season collapse, where they went from being 10-1, to bowing out of the playoffs in the Wild Card round.
Now, Sirianni is considered one of the best coaches in the league after leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl title.
Where exactly does Sirianni rank among his peers? Well, CBS Sport's Cody Benjamin placed him as the fourth-best coach in the NFL.
"His brash antics to close a pitiful 2023 collapse were enough to have Eagles fans reasonably pondering whether he'd totally failed an all-star and become the behind-the-scenes glue for a remarkable rebound with a historically dominant finish. Maybe he's boosted by Howie Roseman collecting premium talent across the board. But you don't shepherd two Super Bowl appearances by accident. He embodies the Philadelphia spirit with his passion."
Sirianni was placed in the top tier, labeled "the cream of the crop," with 11 other coaches. His place is a massive improvement from 2024, where he was 15th.
Now, the only people ranked ahead of Sirianni are John Harbaugh, Sean McVay and Andy Reid. He was more highly rated than coaches like Jim Harbaugh, Kyle Shanahan, Matt LaFleur and Kevin O'Connell.
It's easy to look at Sirianni's success from last season with rose-colored glasses. It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows last year, at least early on. When the bye week came around, the Eagles were 2-2, and some thought Sirianni could be on the hot seat. The Eagles responded by winning 10 straight games, claiming an NFC East title and earning a Super Bowl Championship.
The Eagles dominated in the postseason, with a +68 point differential.
Sirianni might not be the perfect coach, but it's hard to dispute he knows how to get the best out of his players. Other coaches might have more detailed football minds, but Sirianni simply wins.
He has a 54-23 record since the Eagles hired him in 2021. Few head coaches around the rest of the NFL has had as much success as him.
Aside from Dan Campbell, Sirianni is the only coach that was hired in 2021 that still hasn't been fired. Brandon Staley, Urban Meyer, Arthur Smith, Robert Saleh and David Culley are all no longer with their respective teams.
It's true that Sirianni is in an ideal scenario, with Howie Roseman consistently building winning rosters, but Sirianni has still done well to foster a winning culture. The Eagles have made the playoffs every season under Sirianni and have made two Super Bowl appearances, one of three franchises to accomplish that feat in that time span.
With 48 regular season wins, Sirianni is the fourth-winningest coach in Eagles history. He'll likely catch Dick Vermeil this season and Greasy Neale within a couple. Sirianni still has a ways to go before even coming close to Andy Reid, who's 130 wins are by far the most by an Eagles coach ever.
However, Sirianni will have a shot to catch Reid if the Eagles continue to have successful seasons with him at the helm.
