If you're looking for a silver lining in an All-Star Game that feels increasingly insignificant, here's one.
For the first time since 2019, players will wear their team's jerseys in the Midsummer Classic. With the game taking place at Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves, the National League will be the home team. That means Kyle Schwarber – the lone Phillie participating with Zack Wheeler dropping out and others being snubbed — will be wearing red pinstripes during his third career All-Star Game appearance.
Schwarber, presumably, won't play in the field during the game. If NL Manager Dave Roberts were to put him in left field, he'd be wearing this cap (image courtesy of SportsLogos.net):
So it's not the exact home uniform of the Phillies, but it's still a massive improvement over what we've seen the last four years. It's much closer to the beauty of past All-Star Games:

There wasn't an All-Star Game in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but over the last four years the NL and AL have each worn the official All-Star Game jerseys in the game. It created a much more corporate feel to things. Below are pictures of Zack Wheeler from the 2021 All-Star Game and Bryce Harper from the 2024 All-Star Game via Imagn Images.
There's been backlash the last few years, including from Bryce Harper, and that public pressure led to MLB deciding to revert back to the old system. Frankly, it was a pretty shocking decision because while the corporate jerseys were an eyesore — some years more than others — the All-Star Game gave baseball great advertising and likely increased sales of the special threads quite significantly. It's good to know that the pageantry and nostalgia of the All-Star Game won out in this case.
This year's All-Star Game jerseys — which obviously have a Braves theme — will be worn during the Home Run Derby, like how things worked pre-2021. Here, via SportsLogos.net, is what those look like:
Now, if only we could get the game back on track.
