Sometimes you see a stat, and you think there's no way that it can be true. But then it is.
Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts and ... Will Shipley combined for seven rushing touchdowns in Sunday's 55-23 NFC Championship Game win over the Washington Commanders.
Jeff Kerr of CBS pointed out that the seven touchdowns the Eagles rushed for Sunday were more than the Dallas Cowboys did during the entire 2024 season:
The #Eagles rushed for more TD in the NFC Championship Game (7) than the #Cowboys did all season (6).
Upon further review, this is actually correct. No offense to Jeff, who does a great job, but I had to double check. He was right. Ezekiel Elliott had three rushing touchdowns, Rico Dowdle had two and Dak Prescott had one. What a pull from Jeff.
It's still shocking that this is true. The Cowboys were disappointing this year, but they still went 7-10 — it's not as though they are picking in the top five in the NFL Draft. Dowdle ran for 1,079 yards. You would have thought he on his own had close to six rushing scores.
In case you were wondering, the Eagles had 29 regular-season rushing touchdowns, and have 10 over the last two postseason wins after recording zero in their Wild Card Round victory over the Green Bay Packers.
