Throughout the 2025 season, On Pattison is going to keep a running tracker of what uniform combinations that the Phillies wear for each game, similar to what we did during Eagles season.
With just under a month until the regular season begins, here are some key notes to know about the current uniform rotation for the Phillies.
The Phillies currently have five uniform combinations — red pinstripes, cream alternates, powder blue throwbacks, grays and City Connect.
In 1992, the Phillies introduced these red pinstriped uniforms as their primary home threads. They are worn for night games at Citizens Bank Park, except on Thursdays and Fridays. These uniforms are also always worn for the home opener, regardless of what time the game starts at.
From 1992-2022, the jerseys featured the number of each player on the left sleeve. That was removed in 2023, opening up space for an eventual ad patch.

The Phillies wear their popular cream alternate uniforms for all home day games at Citizens Bank Park, except on Thursdays or the home opener.
These alternates were introduced in 2008. They didn't get a matching batting helmet until 2009. The uniforms are based off of the primary threads that the Phillies wore from 1946-1949.
A fun twist on these uniforms is that on April 21, 2024 the Phillies wore their Phillie Phanatic batting practice caps with it as they celebrated the legendary mascot's birthday.

Perhaps the most popular look in franchise history, the powder blues — please don't call them "baby blue," that's a different shade — were the primary road uniforms for the Phillies from 1972-1988.
After occasionally being worn as road throwbacks for close to two decades, the Phillies reintroduced the powder blues to their full-time uniform rotation in 2018 — with a twist. Since 2018, the powder blues have been worn for all Thursday games at Citizens Bank Park. They were also worn on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022 as the Phillies honored the 1980 World Series Championship team.

Like with the pinstripes, the gray uniforms were introduced in the 1992 season. They have been the primary road threads of the Phillies since, and are currently the only away uniforms in rotation for the Phillies.
Also like the red pinstripes, these unis featured the number of each player on the left sleeve from 1992-2022, before being taken off in 2023 so the ad patch could be sold.

The Phillies City Connect uniforms will be back for a second season in 2025, and are likely to once again be worn for Friday home games at Citizens Bank Park.
The uniforms are based off of the colors of Philadelphia's city flag. The "Philly" script across the chest is in a gothic font designed to look like writing in the constitution or one of the other historical documents signed in Philadelphia. Inside each letter are Liberty Bell cracks. There are a slew of other Easter eggs in the midnight navy gradient uniforms:

Given that they are drastically different than any uniform the Phillies have ever had, the City Connect uniforms got, at best, a mixed reception when they were introduced in April of 2024. However, if the goal was to interest younger fans — or at least get their parents to spend money on merchandise for them — a walk around Citizens Bank Park leads you to believe they were successful in that goal.
The MLB City Connect program began in 2021, and many of the early participants — the Washington Nationals, Miami Marlins, Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs among them — have now retired their original designs. That suggests these threads will be in rotation for the Phillies for three or four seasons.
In 2016, the Phillies introduced these red tops as their Spring Training jerseys. They also wore them as a weekday alternate for games at Citizens Bank Park during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. After a few years on the shelf in the regular season, the red tops returned as a road alternate in June of 2021.
They were retired both for Spring Training and the regular season after the 2023 season, as the Phillies needed to get in compliance with Nike's "4+1" rule, which allows clubs to have four uniforms and a fifth if it's a City Connect. The last time they were worn in game action was a Game 5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2023 NLCS.
Independence Blue Cross (IBX) became the jersey sponsor of the Phillies beginning on July 31, 2024. The health insurance company's patch is featured on whatever the more dominant sleeve is for a player. So as you'll see above, Brandon Marsh — a left-handed hitter — has the patch on his right sleeve. Nick Castellanos — a right-handed hitter — has the patch on his left sleeve. This maximizes exposure.
