PFF: Jordan Mailata was the highest-graded offensive player in NFL in 2024

Mailata also one of eight Eagles considered best in league by jersey number by Pro Football Stuff

Jordan Mailata may not have had the best season of any Philadelphia Eagle - it's kind of hard to top the accomplishments of Saquon Barkley - but he was dominant as far as left tackles go.

So much so, that Pro Football Focus rated him as the best offensive player in the NFL based on his overall grade.

Yes, linemen are graded differently than skill players, but his season was ratted by PFF as a 95.1 overall - the highest of any offensive player in the NFL.

But it goes further.

From PFF:

Not only did his 95.1 overall grade lead all offensive players this season, but it has only been bested once by an offensive lineman in PFF history dating back to 2006 - Trent Williams in 2021 (96.6).

Well, then.

Mailata missed four games with a hamstring injury, but including the playoffs, he still played more than 1,000 snaps. In 16 games played, he allowed just three sacks and 23 hurries while taking just nine penalties.

Heck of a season for the big man.

It's probably why he was also recognized as the best No. 68 in the NFL by Pro Football Stuff.

As you can see from the graphic, Mailata was one of eight Eagles who were considered to be the best in the league at their jersey number. And while it's an arbitrary voting by someone at PFS, and probably a slightly silly premise, when you think about it, it's also indicative of just how good the Eagles are. especially Even more so considering of the eight guys that were chosen, the only skill position player picked was Barkley.

The great eight (by jersey number:)

  • 26 - Saquon Bakley
  • 27 - Quinyon Mitchell
  • 33 - Cooper DeJean
  • 53 - Zach Baun
  • 65 - Lance Johnson
  • 68 - Jordan Mailata
  • 69 - Landon Dickerson
  • 98 - Jalen Carter

Eight out of 100, when there are 32 teams, is pretty incredible. Frankly, I was surprised at DeJean, just because 33 is such a common number in the NFL, but it's hard to argue the rest.

As for who some other key Eagles lost out to, and if it was fair or not:

  • 1 - Jalen Hurts loses to Jamar Chase - completely understandable here, although Chase may have the stats, but Hurts has the hardware.
  • 6 - Devonta Smith loses out to Baker Mayfield - I like Mayfield and think he's better than a lot of people give him credit for, but this seems like a total fantasy football-based decision.
  • 11 - A.J. Brown loses out to Micah Parsons - It's the only place the Cowboys can beat the Eagles, amirite?
