Yes, it's Super Bowl week. But have you considered Myles Garrett?

No one is looking beyond Super Bowl LIX, which the Eagles will play the Kansas City Chiefs in this Sunday. On Pattison will have coverage of Media Day this evening as part of Super Bowl Opening Night in New Orleans.

But it's impossible to ignore that Myles Garrett — the defending Defensive Player of the Year — requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns Monday:

Considering Howie Roseman and the Eagles typically check in on every major player that becomes available, they'll likely do so here. It would be malpractice for all 31 other teams to not check in on Garrett. The former No. 1 overall pick was a First-Team All-Pro selection for the fourth time in the last five years. He's got 102 1/5 sacks in eight seasons, and is still only 29 years old. It's rare that players like this become available — assuming the Browns do indeed honor his request — while they are still at the height of their powers.

With that said, it's fair to wonder if the Eagles will have the same type of motivation to offer multiple first-round picks plus more as some other teams. Roseman and the Eagles have done a good job building on the defensive line through the draft, and while Garrett would be the equivalent of adding the pass rushing version of Saquon Barkley, other teams that haven't done as well on the line would probably be more motivated. The Buffalo Bills, for example, keep coming up short in the postseason, despite having an all-time great talent in Josh Allen at quarterback. Adding Garrett could help them to finally get over the hump in a conference where they have to face Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.

Still, it's worth checking in for the Eagles. Giving away multiple first-round draft picks — even if they are at the bottom of the round — doesn't often turn out well. But Garrett is the type of player worth that commitment, and Roseman loves to acquire stars. Never say never.
