Cristopher Sánchez dominated, Kyle Schwarber crushed his 38th home run of the season and the Phillies secured the series victory in a 2-0 shutout victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday Night Baseball.
Max Kepler got the Phillies on the board with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the second inning that plated Nick Castellanos:

The Phillies nearly added another run later that inning on a Bryson Stott fly ball into left-center field with two outs, but Tigers' left fielder Riley Greene made a tremendous catch to end the frame instead:

Sánchez twice wiggled his way out of jams Sunday. The first came when he had runners on first and second base with one out in the top of the fourth inning and got Greene to ground into an inning-ending double play. In the seventh inning, Sánchez ultimately stranded the bases loaded, with the biggest play of the inning coming when Edmundo Sosa gunned down Jahmai Jones at home plate for the second out after fielding a sharply-hit grounder by Andy Ibáñez:

Ultimately, Sánchez finished the evening with six strikeouts and just five hits allowed over eight scoreless innings. He threw only 84 pitches, so he easily could have come back out for the ninth inning. But the Phillies understandably feel much better about their closer situation than they did a week ago.
Before Duran came on for his second save as a Phillie, Kyle Schwarber hit a 435-foot home run to give the Phillies an insurance run. With the blast, Schwarber now has 38 home runs, as many as he hit all of last season:

As it was Friday, Duran's entrance was electric, and it gave way to a one-two-three inning in the top of the ninth, including a game-ending strikeout of Greene:

With the win, the Phillies improve to 63-48. Meanwhile, the Tigers — who lead the AL Central — drop to 65-48.
The Phillies will continue their homestand Monday when they welcome the Baltimore Orioles to Citizens Bank Park for a three-game set.
