After calling the Buffalo Bills' Thursday Night Football win over the Miami Dolphins on Westwood One Radio yesterday, Tom McCarthy will be back in the NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcast booth Friday night as the Phillies open up a crucial weekend series with the New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park. But that will be the only Phillies game that McCarthy calls this weekend.
McCarthy will be away from the Phillies on Saturday and Sunday because he's going to be calling Los Angeles Chargers at Carolina Panthers on CBS at 1 p.m. ET Sunday. He'll be joined in the booth by Jay Feely, with Amanda Balionis as the sideline reporter. It will be the second week in a row that McCarthy called an NFL game for CBS, as he was on play-by-play when the Bills defeated the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.
Here's a look at the broadcast booths for all three Phillies games this weekend.
Friday TV: Tom McCarthy and John Kruk
Saturday TV: Scott Franzke and John Kruk
Sunday TV: Scott Franzke, John Kruk and Mike Schmidt
Friday Radio: Scott Franzke and Kevin Stocker
Saturday Radio: Gregg Murphy and Kevin Stocker
Sunday Radio: Gregg Murphy and Kevin Stocker
It is a tad surprising none of these three games is a national telecast. However, next week's four-game series at Citi Field will be almost exclusively national broadcasts. Thursday's game will be on FOX, Friday on Apple TV+ and Sunday on ESPN. Even Saturday's game — which will be broadcast locally — will be available on MLB Network out of market only.
