Are Phillies Planning Expansion to New Era Team Store?

  • Phillies

According to a proposal first shared by Jack O'Brien, the Phillies are hoping to expand the New Era Team Store.

A Phillies source told On Pattison that "it's too preliminary to confirm any details."

But Meredith Trego of the law firm Ballard Spahr recently addressed a 29-page proposal to Alex Smith of The Philadelphia Art Commission on behalf of the Phillies that began with this letter:

This is what the exterior of the current New Era Team Store looks like:

And then here are some of the renderings for the proposed expansion, which would expand it into the landscaped area:

There are some in-the-weeds zoning things to work through here. For example, the proposal says "six existing trees will be removed from the landscaped area and the remaining landscaped area will be infilled with low-lying plants and vegetation to allow for increased visibility of the Team Store from the public right of way." That may seem minor, but there are rules that have to be followed in regards to cutting trees down and building new things in their place.

Overall, the proposal looks pretty nice. It was definitely a bit crammed earlier this year when the Phillies unveiled their City Connect jerseys in the New Era Team Store. Obviously, it isn't always that busy, but as the Phillies prepare to host the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, it makes sense this is something they would like to improve.
