In the postgame takeaways after the Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, I was critical of the new uniform combination that Jalen Hurts and company wore to open the season.
But the Eagles looked great in Week 1 in comparison to the NFC East-rival New York Giants.
The Giants are celebrating their 100th season in 2024, and doing so by wearing threads that pay homage to what they wore in their first campaign. It's now clear why the Giants abandoned this look after the 1933 season.

The best argument here is that these jerseys are so ugly they almost have an endearing quality. The helmets feel like a mixture of the University of Michigan and the throwback helmets that the Chicago Bears break out every year. The jerseys kind of remind you of the bumble bee throwbacks that the Pittsburgh Steelers wore from 2012-2016.
The uniforms seem to be getting panned almost universally:
The Giants might be wearing the UGLIEST uniforms to ever be worn. What a shit show team pic.twitter.com/0NBO1ni3Gf
I appreciate the Giants wanting to honor their tradition. And I love how old school their current uniforms are. But this mishmash of the Roaring Twenties and Depression Era football is a disaster. pic.twitter.com/32uQ87boSa Trying to watch for Theo Johnson while the Giants are wearing these disgusting uniforms pic.twitter.com/NF9D2nXguO
Ultimately, it's probably the matching socks that really are the cherry on top for the Giants with these uniforms. As a one-off to celebrate 100 years, these throwbacks are fine. Hopefully, though, they are shelved until 2124 after today.
